The Pilsner Urquell Master Bartender competition is one of the most prestigious tapster contests in the Czech Republic. It has long supported a high standard of beer culture and reminds us that a perfectly poured beer is the result of honest craftsmanship, experience, and respect for tradition. It’s not just about speed or showmanship. What matters most is precision, technique, and the ability to maintain quality even under pressure, when the smallest details decide the outcome.

How the Regional Round Works
Regional rounds bring together tapsters from across the region and follow clear rules. Competitors face each other in direct one-on-one duels. Each contestant must pour two perfect hladinka beers within a time limit and demonstrate confidence behind the tap.
The jury evaluates pouring technique, handling of the glass, and adherence to proper procedures. They assess the height and structure of the foam, glass cleanliness, smoothness of movement, and overall presentation. Every detail matters, and small differences often determine who advances.
Only a few of the best move on to the national final.
From 32 Tapsters to the Top 5
This year’s regional round featured 32 tapsters, and the competition was exceptionally strong. Each duel was close, with only small differences deciding the results.
Among the competitors was Petra, the restaurant manager of Mlýn Kozlovice. She successfully fought her way into the top five and secured a place in the national final. In the head-to-head duels she proved herself not only technically but also mentally. Staying calm and focused when seconds matter is one of the most important skills.

Behind Every Performance Is Practice
Petra manages the restaurant at Mlýn Kozlovice and is responsible for the entire operation. The competition environment is different from a typical day in the restaurant, but the foundation remains the same: attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and respect for the craft of beer tapping.
This combination of long-term experience and natural confidence behind the bar was reflected in her performance. Advancing to the final is therefore not a coincidence, but confirmation of the high standard we strive to maintain every day.

What Comes Next
The national final will bring together the best tapsters from across the regions, and the demands for precision will be even higher. We are proud that Mlýn Kozlovice will have its representative among the finalists.
Now we’re keeping our fingers crossed and looking forward to the next step. 🍺 Wish Petra good luck with us! 💛
